Cement

Gearboxes &
Geared Motors for
the Cement Industry
Cement production is an energy-intensive and complex process. The beginning of cement production can be traced back to the year 1850. Over the years, this branch of industry experienced a strong upswing, which was accompanied not least by the increasing use of concrete construction methods.
The production of cement requires raw materials that are mined in opencast mines or quarries. Nowadays, automated solutions are used to transport the materials. Premium Stephan Hameln also offers various gearboxes and geared motors that enable an automated supply of material (please also have a look at "material handling"). Crushers, mills and rotary kilns play a central role in the production of cement. In the manufacturing process, crushers pre-crush the raw materials, which are then mixed together in mills, ground and dried in parallel. The result is so-called raw meal, which is subsequently burned in rotary kilns to cement clinker. Finally, the cement clinker is ground to cement by adding gypsum in a ball mill.
Premium Stephan Hameln offers high-quality gearboxes and geared motors for this area of application. More information can be found in the applications listed below. If you cannot find what you are looking for in the applications listed below, please do not hesitate to contact us. A gearbox or a geared motor that is adapted to your needs will be designed for you according to your specific need.

Application
ROTARY KILNS

Rotary kilns are used in many areas of basic industry to carry out continuous material conversion processes at high temperatures in which solid reactants are involved. Large forces, extreme temperatures and kilns with huge dimensions characterise the picture of cement production. As a rule, this means suitably large gear units and drive components to ensure a smooth process.
HORIZONTAL & VERTICAL MILLS

Clay and limestone are the basic materials for cement production. After mining and coarse crushing, the rock is processed by crushers in large mills using corrective materials to raw meal and fed to further processing. The crushing process is carried out by means of rollers (roller mill) or balls (ball mill)
CRUSHER

Crushers are machines for crushing hard raw material from large pieces into small grain sizes. For cement production the raw materials limestone and clay are crushed with crushers. This requires a great deal of effort and results in heavy impact loads on the crusher. The driving geared motors are therefore generously dimensioned and extremely robust.
